Dixie L. Walker is a freelance artist currently living
in New Albany, Indiana. Born in Kentucky, Dixie started
winning art awards in high school and has continued
winning them at science fiction and fantasy conventions.

Though self-taught, Dixie started her art career painting
professional portraits, but found them too stressful.
She switched to commercial ads, which she continued to do
for 10 years. Some of these works are still being used
in the Kentucky-southern Indiana area. A friend prompted
her to enter some of her pieces in a science fiction art
show. This is where Dixie found her niche. She has
happily and successfully been submitting her art to
conventions ever since.

For several years, convention and art show enthusiasts
have eagerly looked forward to Dixie's paintings,
sculptures, and eggs. Dixie's pieces reflect joy and
work in creating happy things -- things that bring a
smile, a laugh, or a dream.

Many of Dixie's favorite works contain whimsical dragons,
while others feature mythical creatures. Most will bring
a smile to your face.

In 1995, Dixie achieved one of her greatest rewards when
she was chosen to be Artist Guest of Honor at LibertyCon,
a science fiction convention held in Chattanooga,
Tennessee.

Dixie is currently working on illustrations for a
children's book, as well as preparing pieces for science
fiction and fantasy conventions.
