Albus means white, because heis a good wizard. Dumbledore means bumblebee. Rowlings had a picture of him humming music to himself. He was in the Gryffindor House while attending Hogwarts School of Wizards and Wizardry. Dumbledore has 1 brother, the wizard Atherton, who was prosecuted for practicing inappropriate charms on a goat. He taught Transfiguration at Hogwarts before he became its Headmaster. Although considered an eccentric genius, he is very noble and inspires extreme loyalty. He told Harry that, "It is our choices that show who we are far more than our abilities."
He was the first choice to lead the ministry Of magic, but prefers to be the Headmaster at Hogwarts, and to advise Cornelius Fudge when he is needed. He was removed from his position due to the machinations of Lucius Malfoy when the student were being petrified, but was soon restored to his former position and Malfoy removed from his seat as one of the governors.
Dumbledore stuck up for Hagrid after his dad died and got him the job of gamekeeper. He trusts people and gives them a second chance, that what sets him apart from the other headmasters. He'll accept anyone into Hogwarts, as long as they've the talent. He knows people can turn out allright even if their families arn't completely respecticle. Some people don't understand that and hold it against you. Not a week has gone by that Dumbledore hasn't gotten at least one owl complaining about the way he runs it.
He refused to let the Dementors onto the school grounds. He advised Harry and Hermione to use the Time Turner to save two innocent lives ( Buckbeak and Sirius Black), even though they were condemned by the Ministry Of Magic, because he knew they were innocent even though he couldn't convince the people in charge of their sentencing.
He has a pet Phoenix, Fawkes, who brought Harry the sorting hat when he was in the Chamber Of Secrets. The phoenix also saved Harry's life when he was dying of the Basilisk's bite by putting his tears on the wound.
Considered by many the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for his discover of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel. When the Sorcerer's Stone was destroyed and his friend and partner would be ending his extremely long life, Professor Dumbledore said, "To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
Professor Dumbledor enjoys chamber music and ten pin bowling. He has a golden watch that has twelve hands and no numbers, instead it has little planets moving around the edge. He is very fond of the muggle sweet, lemon drops.
Dumbledore's office can bereached by saying the passwod lemon drop
in front of a large and extremely ugly gargoyle. The gargoyle then
hops aside and the wall behind him splits in two. Behind the wall
was a spral staircase that moved smoothly upward likee an escalator.
At the top of the stairs was a gleaming oak door with a brass knocker in
the shape of a griffin. Inside there was a large and beautiful circular
room, full of funny little noises. A number of curious instruments
stood on spindle-legged tables, whirring and emitting little puffs of smoke.
The walls were covered with portraits of old headmasters nd headmistresses,
all of whom were snoozing gently in their frames. There was lso an
